Terms & Conditions
These terms and conditions apply to all driving programmes, individual driving lessons, theory courses and additional services provided by Driving School Leiden, established in Leiden.
1. Definitions
- Driving school: Driving School Leiden, Jan Luykenlaan 51, 2332 DA Leiden, Netherlands.
- Student: the natural person taking a driving programme or individual lesson.
- Lesson package: a pre-agreed number of driving lessons at a fixed price.
- CBR: the Dutch Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing, which administers the practical and theory exams.
2. Formation of the agreement
The agreement is formed at the moment the student confirms a lesson package or individual lesson, in writing, by email, via WhatsApp or through the booking form on our website, and the driving school accepts the registration.
3. Obligations of the driving school
- The driving school provides lesson vehicles that meet all legal requirements and the requirements of the CBR.
- The driving school uses WRM-certified instructors.
- The driving school ensures the student is trained for the CBR exam according to a reasonable and realistic lesson plan.
- The driving school carries third-party liability and comprehensive insurance covering the lesson vehicle during lessons.
4. Obligations of the student
- The student is present at the agreed time and place for the lesson; if the student is more than 10 minutes late the instructor may cancel the lesson, in which case the full lesson is charged.
- Before the first lesson the student honestly discloses any prior driving disqualification or medical condition that may affect the operation of a motor vehicle.
- During the lesson the student follows the instructor's directions.
- The student brings a valid form of identification to every lesson.
5. Pricing and payment
- All prices are listed on the Pricing page and include VAT, fuel, study materials and, where applicable, pick-up and drop-off service.
- Individual driving lessons are settled directly after the lesson, unless otherwise agreed.
- Lesson packages are paid in full in advance, at the start of the programme.
- In case of late payment the driving school is entitled to suspend further lessons until the outstanding amount is settled.
6. Lesson packages and refunds
A purchased lesson package represents reserved training capacity; the driving school sets aside an instructor, vehicle and schedule on that basis. Package fees already paid are therefore not refundable, including in the event of early termination of the programme by the student.
Exception: if the student passes the CBR practical exam during the package and lessons from the package remain, the unused lessons will, at the student's request and choice, be either paid out at the package per-lesson rate or transferred to a third party nominated by the student.
7. Cancelling and rescheduling lessons
- Lessons can be rescheduled or cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the lesson starts.
- For cancellations within 48 hours the full lesson is charged, unless there is an urgent reason such as documented illness or a serious family circumstance.
- The driving school may also cancel or reschedule a lesson, for example due to instructor illness, technical problems or extreme weather. In that case the lesson is rescheduled free of charge.
8. CBR exams
- CBR exam fees are not included in the individual lesson price and, unless otherwise stated, are invoiced separately.
- The driving school books the exam only after the instructor considers the student exam-ready and the exam fee has been paid.
- If the student cancels an exam less than two weeks in advance, the CBR charges the full fee; this cost is borne by the student.
- If the student does not attend the exam, attends late or attends without valid identification, the exam is forfeited and the cost of a re-exam is borne by the student.
9. Liability
During the driving lesson the driving school carries third-party liability and comprehensive insurance. The student is not liable for damage that arises during a lesson, except in cases of intent, gross negligence, driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that affects driving ability, or knowingly concealing a driving disqualification. In those cases the student is fully liable for the damage incurred.
10. Complaints
Complaints about the performance of the agreement are first discussed directly with the driving school via info@drivingschoolleiden.com or +31 85 060 5200. If the parties cannot reach agreement, the student is free to submit the dispute to the competent Dutch court.
11. Applicable law
All agreements with Driving School Leiden are exclusively governed by Dutch law.
